I am writing this because I just saw a comment that said that professional stylist are trained to style all hair types. I have heard of professional stylist who are white and are able to style black hair , I have seen them at hair shows, etc. And I have also visited a white stylist once. Just for a trim and style. She trimmed my hair fine, but the styling was bland and boring . I find it a rare occasion to find a non-black stylist who can not only style hair, but help maintain its health.

Basically finding someone with the same hair type as yours is going to be the best at doing your hair....I'm white and I do black hair...but I'm not as good at it as most black girls are....I'm not an expert at black hair products for differnt black hair types...I usually just end up using non ethnic products on them..I havent had any complaints though...I don't do the really 'set' looking styles though...because they are not something I do regularly and I dont use the really oily products...

I'm white and the place I go has all white girls. In my opinion, blacks have more style that whites to start with - in almost every area. The hippest people I've ever met were black. It must be genetic or something.

♥♪♦♫ True and that is why I do my own hair, weaves, braids, ponytails and wash and sets. Nobody knows how you like your hair but you. If you tell them to clip it they have to cut it , if you take a picture it never comes out the way the picture looks. Do your own hair believe me it is cheaper and you benefit. If you don't know you should learn. I hope that I have helped you. ♥♪♦♫

maybe not a hair salon but a hairstylist and i guess sometimes salons........well sometime if you go to your own race you will feel more comfortable because you know they have the same hair color (sometimes) skin and hair texture so they will know what looks better and what doesnt from personal experience, but not just race maybe like if you go to a hairstylist with curly hair you will feel more comfortable because they know what works and what doesnt from personal experience also.
