So, I finally got up the nerve to ask for this girl's number. I expected she would give it to me what with all the signs of interest she was giving me. So I wait a few days and then call her on Monday to set up a date on Friday to which she obliges. She comes to see me today(Thursday) and tells me that I can give her a call if I want when I get off work. I call her and we chat for a minute or two before she asks if I want to hang out. I say "sure" and we meet at the mall. We basically just talked and I watched her eat a sandwich. When it was time to leave she said she had fun and offered her hand to shake, so I shook and then assured her that we could hug. I don't know, it just seemed like that's what she was expecting. Anyway, my question is why did she want to hang out when our date was only a day away?

she just wanted to see what kind of guy you were, and perhaps she just didnt have anything else to do and thought why not hang out and see. Give her time to see if she is interested in you and if you feel the same. She might be the kinda girl who just wanted to rush things along wanted to see what kind of person you really are. Nothing wrong with going out the day before, more time you spend together the more you will know eachother and take the next steps

Maby she just wanted to get to know u befor she went on a date with u u could be a bad boy or a goodie two shoe or she mite be a bad girl or a goodie two shoe so she probaly just wanted to see if u were right for her and if u werent she probaly would have just let u go today

And you have a problem with this becauseeee?????? It is better this way, tomorrow when you guys go out you won't feel weird or held back in any way, if you guys hung out for a few minutes and talked, then tomorrow it will be easier for you to talk and spend time together....don't worry about it, maybe she was anxious to see you or talk to you.

ummm to see if she wanted to be ALONE with you on a date.
A mall is a pretty public place so its a good place to meet someone if you are not sure of them.
It sounds to me (since she offered her hand and not a hug) that she will be calling off the date tomorrow so be prepared!
