I read that Anna Nicole Smith's son died from taking Zoloft, Lexapro, and methdone. But could the Lexapro and Zoloft do it? Both taken in their prescribed ammounts of course.

Just to clarify, I'm not actually taking either of these. I just want to know.

Since Zoloft and Lexapro are both SSRI's (Selective Serotonin reuptake inhibitors), it is unlikely, that he would be on both of them. Being on an SSRI and another type such as Wellbutrin is normal but only for certain periods of time. More likely, his levels of the SSRI were too high causing an imbalance of serotonin in his brain and then with the methodone wearing on his heart...

My answer would more likely be that they weren't both prescribed amounts.

How should I take Zoloft?

Take Zoloft exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Zoloft may be taken with or without food. Try to take the medicine at the same time each day.
The liquid (oral concentrate) form of Zoloft must be diluted before you take it. To be sure you get the correct dose, measure the liquid with the medicine dropper provided. Mix the dose with 4 ounces (one-half cup) of water, ginger ale, lemon/lime soda, lemonade, or orange juice. Do not use any other liquids to dilute the medicine. Stir this mixture and drink all of it right away. To make sure you get the entire dose, add a little more water to the same glass, swirl gently and drink right away.
Zoloft can cause you to have a false positive drug screening test. If you provide a urine sample for drug screening, tell the laboratory staff that you are taking Zoloft.
It may take up to 4 weeks before your symptoms improve. Keep using the medication as directed and tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve.
Do not stop using Zoloft suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Ask your doctor how to safely stop using Zoloft.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Any mediacation that has been specifically prescribed by a doctor should be perfectly safe and shouldn't kill anyone. If in doubt check with the Pharmacist who dispenses the tablets and they will cross check that there are no adverse reactions to the doctors orders. As with any drug though there can be adverse reactions, but these are normally extremely rare if the medication is taken as prescribed.

In the example you quoted I would suggest that the drugs may not have been taken as prescribed and that it was possibly an interaction with other drugs that were not prescribed even that caused the real issue.

Dont take either of it without consulting a Dr. If your Doc says its fine to take it together in a low dosis, you should trust your doc but i would recheck with other doctors and see what they say. I dont know much about american medication but i know you shouldn't take too many different medicines at once. No further action without a doc please

No, not if taken as prescribed. If you have questions about this, talk to your pharmacist. The will have more med information than your doctor would.

ask your docter about this one, and the media isnt always true!!! bt you should check with your docter and express your concerns with him/her. but my personal opinion is that if its prescribed then you will be fine, and NOT die!! i mean what kind of docter gives medicine that can kill?!!? im sure your docter wouldnt, honey, your fine, dont worry, but i still recomend going to talk to your docter.
