we look down on you? Or is it because we love you and want you to be happy now and for eternity? We come at this with the humility of standing before God and passing His message, not with the arrogance of those who know we are right.

Are you all just grouchy? Why does this seem to make people so hostile?

It makes people hostile because the words "Jesus loves you" are often followed by "and if you don't convert you're going to hell."

By responding with "Jesus loves you", you are completely ignoring the other person's beliefs and asserting your own.

What is the point of saying this to someone who does not believe in Jesus or a "son of God" Jesus? What could possibly be the purpose other than to, once again, say "You are wrong."

I honestly want you to understand this. Contact me if this doesn't get the point across.

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

I John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of Yahweh, when we loveYahweh, and keep his Laws.

3 For this is the love of Yahweh, that we keep his Laws: and his Laws are not grievous.

Mark7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Isayah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Because not everyone believes in the whole "son of god" thing. Most non-Christians will take this as an attempt to convert them. Not all of us believe what you do, so just leave us alone.

you are sincere, so I'll play nice.

how would you feel if someone told you "Buddha loves you"?
it's the exact same thing, good intentions, but to those who don't share your faith it appears that they are that they are right and you are wrong.
plus most of us don't believe Jesus is still alive, many don't even believe he ever existed, by saying "loves" you imply that he is still alive which only certain beliefs believe.
you mean well but you need to seriously think about what you're actually saying.

I think it is awesome, words can not describe. Someone who knows all my faults, thoughts, actions, and heart loves me just as I am. It is comforting.
One day when we stand before him I know that he will not say, "Go, I never knew you"! I know him and feel sadness for those who don't.
The best thing is when someone tells me that Jesus loves me, it is usually when I need it the most!
Keep it up my friend!
By the way, Jesus loves you too!

Sometimes a message is better sent with less words and more actions. Hitting people over the head with something they're not ready to hear doesn't usually impress them.

"Or is it because we love you and want you to be happy now and for eternity?"

If that's the only other choice, than the first must be true. It's impossible to love someone you've never even seen. Really, it is. No.. REALLY.

Being a Christian myself, I know when I speak with others about Jesus that it is because I want to see them right with God.

people desire to be in control, and at the same time know they are not, this breeds a hostile situation, one frought with rebellion and grouchyness.
