What kind of bachelor degree would fit me best?

I am working with mentally and physically disabled people. I have a german degree in this field which is called a "Medico-Pedagogic Caregiver". I would like to achieve my bachelors degree in mental health but somehow I can not find anything that referes to that. I was thinking about Social Work but does anyone know about a more specific degree that specifies mental health and mental retardation?? I appreciate every answer. Thank you

I guess that your best bet will be BS in psychiatry most Collages have it and then you can pursue Master and Doctor degree in same field.

Someone suggested BS in psychiatry...there is no such thing as psychiatry requires a medical degree. Any jobs requiring a BS/BA in the psychology field pays very little. To get a psychology/sociology type degree that is marketable, you will need Master's in Social Work with licensure. You can specialize in mental health and disabilties. Depending on the state you are in, there might be a clinical psychology degree at a master's level which could allow you to work as a therapist. Check state regulations as they differ. Physical and occupational therapists make more money and are in demand with the growing elderly population. But you may have to start pretty much from scratch. If you like working with people, RN's are very much in demand, make good money and that is a two-year degree.

my advice to you is think long and hard. unless you want to be making tops 45K with a masters and 30K with a bachelors, think a different field.

See whether you can get one made to fit your requirements, some English universities will do that for you. If you are looking for something to hang on your wall, I believe you can write off to some non-existent American university and they will send the perforated do it yourself University of Elm Street version signed by their principal Mr Freddy Kruger BooH! maybe u can consider going offshore a bit to get a wider horizon of knowledge related to the field u want to work in... u can consider psychology.

BS in psychology would be the best.
BS is better then BA. But BA would be sufficient for you.
