They have them do chores, cleaning the prisons, cooking, sewing, digging out in the backyard, but that really isn't enough. They need to add castration to the list.

in the UK all sex offenders are placed on "rule 43"-this is where prisoners are placed in segregation for their own safety or the safety of others. in the case of rapists and sex offenders they can (on the part of the other inmates) expect a very hard time indeed ranging from verbal and physical attacks to having their food interfered with. on the part of the authorities they will usually be made to do the menial chores the other inmates baulk at (making the tea for the cons and cleaning the drains-there is also the dreaded "cleaning up the parcels" that inmates throw out of their cell windows in the night). if they reach a position of trust then they can become a "trusty" where they get more time on the landings (wings) to themselves while everyone else is in lock-up making the tea for the wardens and mopping the floors etc-me?? i would just hang them and be done with it.

I am assuming that you are asking what the other convicts do to the rapists, not what the legal system does to them. As dastardly and horrible as some crimes are, the perpetrators of those crimes still have an "ethic" of their own. Rapists are subject to beatings, being raped themselves, forcing inanimate objects into body orifices, stabbing, "accidents" at their work stations. You name it--it will be done to them. Rapists and those who hurt children are on the top of the list for "sentencing" by their fellow cons.
