alright... here lately my cat has gotten into this "lets attack" mode... if my limbs aren't completely covered while in bed (he only does this in bed) he'll scratch the hell outta me... he doesn't do this to my hubby... ONLY me! its weird... but then after he tires himself... or gets tired of being hit in the head a MILLION times, he crawls on my belly, and just lays there.... ONLY on my belly... and only me. Whats up with that?!

That's completely normal behavior - I am assuming it's a young cat - as they get older usually that behavior stops. I'm also assuming that it's your cat, hince why it only plays / sleeps on you - it's a playful / loving reaction that can be quite annoying. If it doesn't persist I would shut the cat out of the room at night.

They attack your limbs because they are moving under the blanket and instinct tells them it's something they should attack (think of a mouse under a carpet) and the sleeping on your stomach is a cat's version of cuddling.

DO NOT GET HIM DECLAWED!!!!! Declawed cats start biting and that is a much larger problem. Scruffing works the best to discourage him from his games, but being in bed and ready to fall asleep puts you at a disadvantage for catching him. What I do is keep a bathrobe close by and toss that on top of him. After I do thisw three or four time he goes to the curling up on my stomach purring thing. You might also try getting him to chase a string or something earlier in the night so he gets his playtime out of his system before you go to bed.

Well I guess get him a scratching post. This is normal behavior for a kitten. But as far as I know not for a full growing cat.

Maybe your cat is in heat. Or maybe he is getting into some wild catnip growing outside. Just suggestions. The solution to that problem is either getting him a mate or declawing him. An easier way to deal with it is to squirt him with water when he attacks you to get him to stop.

he has a bond with you and he is just playing with you, i have to kick my kittens out at night when i am sleeping because my male cat likes to attack my feet under the blanket. Just spank him on the butt and say no, he might get the idea that it hurts and he should stop.

clip your cats front claws. i do it with both my cats. use regular toe nail clippers. watch out for the quick or you'll make him bleed. if you do cut them to short, take a bar of soap and run his nails across it. this will stop the bleeding and keep him from getting an infection. also, get a spray bottle and spray him every time he does this. that will work.

He's just playing with you. He isn't clear he's ripping you to shreds. My cats do the same. I have to be the one to stop that play, the cat won't, as the scratches kept getting infected.

he's just playing with you. it may be hard, but don't like push him away or yell at him. im STILL trying to overcome this problem. but eventually. he'll get bored of it & find something else to do.
