It sure is. It will be good for about 3 months. I freeze all my grated and shredded cheeses. Helps them last longer and also, if you add it to a steaming hot bowl of chili, helps cool it down some.

Yes. After freezing, cheese may become crumbly and mealy, but, it will retain its flavor. Cream cheese and cottage cheese do not freeze well. It is common for grated cheese to mold faster due to the higher surface area than a block of cheese. Once frozen, you can use the grated cheese the same way you would use fresh.

If you freeze it, chefs suggest thawing it in the refrigerator. After thawing, you may find some liquid on top of the cheese. Just stir that liquid back into the cheese.

It's safe, but when it thaws its all mushy....only good if you're going to make mac & cheese, man!

yes. freezing does change the texture but it is perfectly fine for melting.
