Absolutely; this filth is even appearing inside shops smeared over clothing and stamped into carpets; we all end up paying the price for having it cleaned away. Wherever there is a school, pavements are coated in this nasty, pointless muck. It should have been banned years ago.

Chewing gum is banned in Singapore??? How odd! I dont chew gum, I like mints, But I would hate to tell someone they cant chew it...probably easier than trying to teach them to throw it out in the right place!

What do they do to you if they catch you chewing gum in Singapore?

No. Just don't chew it in situations where it is improper (tea party, formal dinners, etc). I chew gum for nerves. It's either that or clicking a pen, and I've found people would rather I chew a piece of gum.

Chewing gum is banned in Singapore??? (wow)

I don't think it should. It's not the gum that is the problem. It's the people that spit it in the street and leave it under tables that are the problem.

No, people should be able to make their own minds up about what they chew and if they like gum then fine.

No way, I love chewing gum. I always have to be chewing some or I can't concentrate. It helps me focus, freshens breath and is good for oral health. So no, I don't think it should be banned.

Yeah i think it should. Its so annoying when you get it on your shoes or trousers, or when your stuck infront of someone on the bus or at the cinema that seems to think its cool to let people hear how loud they can chew !!?!? the taste only last about 30 seconds as well. A waste

We should adopt all the laws of Singapore. No spitting and they should put up posters everywhere with the command to smile more. And I like gum.

yes it should be but its not banned in Singapore anymore, the reason they banned it was getting stuck and delaying the new then MRT mass rapid transport systems by getting stuck in the automated doors

No. It can be chewed responsibly.

I don't think Singapore's a model for anything.
