The general medical consensus is that chewing gum is harmless if swallowed, however, there have been a very few documented cases of the gum causing an intestinal blockage.

although gum might be able to withstand your stomach acid for a long time, gum does not stay in your stomach for 7 years.. ever seen someone swallow a penny? it comes out in a day or two just like everything else.. now assuming that gum DID stay in your stomach for 7 years.. then obviously there would come a point where your stomach would have to expand to accommodate for it's lack of space, and you would have a huge poochy stomach even though you weren't obese.

one it does not last 7 years, it moves on out of the stomach in less than 2 hours and two, noe of these days it has a risk of going down your airways and get stuck and not give you time to call emergency services, do not swallow chewing gums, it can be fatal, good luck
