Ask the one point three billion Muslims' parents....lol.
Sister, from time immemorial arranged marriages were the order of the day. The parents of the girl and the boy check out the future spouse, approve them, get the approvoal of the boy and the girl and they are married.
Many times when young people decide who they will marry, they use emotions more than reason. That is why so many marriages end up in divorces these days. In the old days the elders decided based on mature reasoning and understanding. Which is why there are less divorces in Muslim nations than in America.
I know it may be strange to meet a stranger and lose your virginity to him or her. But then you will never forget that person as he/she becomes your life partner for ever!!
I hope this answers your question.

I know that in Europe women couldn't date until the modern ages..but Islam gives women the full right to accept or reject the husband or the man asking her hand..so it is a family arrangement with the choice to the girl in the end.

well, there are lots of ways:
1. ur parents can pick one for you, but u do have a right to say yes or no.
2. U dont have to date a person to know him. Just talk and get to know them.
One reason that dating is prohibited in islam is that the girl/boy dont do anything innapropriate.

traditionally it was arranged by parents, nowadays if you know someone in family, school or work you go ahead with help from parents again. dating still not allowed though and if you are old enough that your parents depend on you then you are it, peace
