Awww! He is probably just getting older. My cat is 10 now and she hasn't been very playful for YEARS. Once in a while she gets kinda silly, though. Toys with catnip always help. Also, the little pen looking thing that is a laser light. It makes a small red dot appear on any surface. Cats go CRAZY over that.

In terms of human age, your 10-year-old cat is 56 years old, so he will no longer act like a kitten. (See source for cat/human age chart.)

Cats do, however, need some physical exercise regardless of age. This is especially true of indoor cats whose most vigorous exercise is running to the kitchen!

You can entice your cat to be active by bringing out an old toy which he hasn't seen for a while. But, be prepared for him to play with it for only a few minutes. I have found that a spool of thread thrown out on the floor will excite an older cat more than anything else.

There are a couple of things you can purchase at a pet store that should capture his interest. One is a laser pointer light and the other is a feather attached to a pole.

Don't worry, he still loves you. He has just lost the enthuiasm of his youth.

Most cats as they get older aren't as playful as they used to be. You can buy some toys ( usually small ones with bells work for my oldest cat) and they might occassionally play on their own but you never know.

IF you find a rat, trap it, stick a pin through it's head(to kill it), then put it on a fishing rod by it's head. go up stairs(if you have one), and cast the bait. soon the cat will be jumping as if he was7 years old again. believe me i tried it.

If your cat doesnt want to play with you anymore, it is obviosly broken... you should dispose of it anyway you see fit.

well since your cat is 10 i think you should just leave him sleep or do whatever he does cause thats wat he needs most.Another reason it may not want to play is because it my have sore joints or muscles so just take it easy on him.I hoped i helped
