I asked last night if there would be a way to sell my photography. Nobody answered. :-) So, I'm asking it here (I know it's miscategorized, but this seems to be a hot section here and I figured I get at least 2 or 3 answers..I guess the people in the "hobby" section aren't as enthused.) Anyway, can I sell my own photography? I've been told many times over that it's good. I've gotten some on television and people say "That should be in National Geographic!" I have a feeling that because so many people have made that comment that maybe they aren't just blowing smoke up my ***. Is there really a way to sell my photography and get it in magazines and stuff like that?

Alright I feel bad that this is in the wrong category so to keep with the pregnancy/parenting theme here, tell me if there's a way to sell my pictures and also tell me your kid's first word :-)

First make a nice looking physical portfolio.
Second make a web site portfolio (even a free blog will do).
next, find art galleries in your area and contact them.
Check out libraries, cafes, general public buildings and such, many are (or could be with some coxing), great venues to get your photos shown and even sold.
If you are a niche photographer, find magazines/publications in your area of expertise, and contact them, send them samples and a link to your web site.
I have done many of these with a good bit of success, and I only do photography as a side hobby.

My son is still too young for a first work, well unless you count, maaaahhhhhhh!!!! ;)

I am sure you could. Find a book on marketing. Look in the Arts section for it. You would definately need a portfolio. Best of Luck.

Not sure really. Maybe you could put together a portfolio and then have people publish them for you.
