Big business is pushing a plan that would unify
the United States, Mexico and Canada into a
corridor with no borders, a North American Union
with a common currency and free flow of
goods and people.
While that may be good
for profits, it’s bad for national security and
a threat to the sovereignty of all three nations
What do you think about this plan ?
How would it affect you or your country?

Bush is pushing this plan and wants it to become a fact, not a dream (nightmare)

Well this plan would be good for Mexicans, corporations of all three countries and probably bad for the people of both American and Canada because the labor supply will increase and it will reduce our wages. Since corporations now run our government with elected officials being their puppets, I think this has a chance.

Speaking from a U.S. citizen's point of view (also someone born and raised in Canada)....I think that Canada would get a little bent out of shape because they are a prideful nation that does not want to integrate on every level with the U.S. They like to pick and choose their relationships with the U.S., for the most part.
Sometimes Canada must feel a little bullied by the U.S. though (and rightly so in some instances, I might add) so this would enable them to feel like they are on the same level from a business perspective. It might stop Canadians taking their talents south of the border ex. doctors and nurses.
I can't speak for Mexico, but I would boost their economy and in the long run stop illegals from running north if they had better paying jobs and a lifestyle in their own country. This could be a really good thing for Mexico.
In some ways it makes sense. Heck, the U.S. has a population of latinos that are going to outnumber caucasians pretty quick. That doesn't bother me, but illegal aliens that suck the system dry do. I live in Southern California and it has impacted our area tremendously.
I would like to see a comprehensive plan that could evolve into a model like the E.U. From what I gather, that has been very successful.
The concerns are not currency (I mean who cares what kind of dollar you use???), but people seeing the big picutre beyond their own sovereignty, healthcare and organization politically. What a huge task. Not impossible, but huge.

Hey How r u today? I think that would be an awful idea. Good for business bad for national security. I am a firm believer that our borders are too lax but the poor illegal immigrant who came to clean buildings is not at fault. Fault lies between 2 governments USA and Mexico and of course we need to throw Canada in the mix. It would work only if all 3 governments shared the costs of absolutely closing down all borders.

I seriously doubt that this will happen in the near future. Only if our govt. becomes severely corrupt, or is in extreme financial straits this would possibly be an alternative. Another scenario would be a huge change in the world political and military climate, such that Asia, Europ, and Russia become a united superpower and is a threat to the West. We may not have a choice, but to join forces with our Northern and Southern neighbors, both for resources and strategic alliance.

Yeah the good ol North American Union. Well I will either be dead, or fighting it with all I have, and that includes to the death. I will NOT let my country go.
For those of you not in Texas, the plan is under way already. The initial plan is for a transportation corridor owned and operated by a Spanish company charging tolls after building this on hundreds of thous hand of Texans land taken by eminent domain. This isn't fantasy it is really the plan
This is one of our groups trying to stop it.

I think this is a horrible plan and would easily allow crime rates in all 3 places to reach an all time high we all have different laws about drugs and guns and this would cause a lot of grey area in those laws honestly i think it would be hard on the economy as well since jobs would go to the lowest bidder the person who will take the least pay but may not be trained to perform in that position

Isn't that what most of Europe does it? How can that hurt any of us?
The main problem is that Mexico is in the dark ages as far as their corruptness & Governement order & structure. How can we bring them into this century & clean it up. ??? That is a major project - holy mother - a big project.
National Security is a joke - its a myth. I dont fully believe that they have 'stopped the attacks' that they claim that they have stopped. Its sad & amusing to me that so many people trust our government enough to belive the crap that they spoon feed us. We are NO safer than we were the day of 9/11.
Other than those issues I am ALL For it.

Personally, I like the idea but It's unlikely to occur because of the reasons you have stated and there are many social and political differences between the three countries. We outta merge with Mexico and just take Canada outright.

Interesting idea. I think Mexicans would favor it, while Americans and Canadians would oppose it. For purposes of business and transportation is would probably make sense, but personally I don't like the idea of such a merger. Although, I really am in no position to have an opinion, since I don't know the specifics.

Evil leaders within our USA government cares only for Brown Brothers, Harriman, Kellogg and Haliburton. To implement programs or business deals while at the same time subverting the legislative process of congress is high treason.
