It's not a sin, but it might help to see a counselor and work through any emotions that might be lingering around.

I have violent thoughts and dreams. Im 26 and they've been with me since childhood. Although I don't act on them, sometimes I will sit back and imagine things, and i will slip into sort of a dream-world-while-awake situation. The most violent and monumental destructive fantasies and images come into my mind. Like just before I read this question (kinda wierd coincidence) I was imagining blowing up the bay bridge between Mobile and Baldwin county, Alabama. C4 charges at every other support structure. An explosion that would not only collapse the bridge, but it would happen during the morning cummute rush hour. Thousands would fall into Mobile bay, trapped in their cars, sinking fast as water rushes in their windows with such force that it pushes them against their seatbelt, shaking them violently. Some would survive, but would have to live with the depression of losing loved ones, imagining them in the ways I just did. Geez, I don't know what to tell you, just fight hard to differentiate from right and wrong like I have all my life. I refuse to get into fights because I'm scared I might kill or seriously injure someone. And that kind of anger management is something special. Therapists don't teach that. E-mail or message me if you want to talk about it, I'm always willing to help. I know how it is.

I think it is natural for everyone to have violent thoughts. Especially, when we are bombarded with it every day (news, TV, video games, ETC.), but what matters if you act on those thoughts. Also, if these are like thoughts that serial killers have or if they are just thoughts that someone who is pissed off have would make a big difference.
Don't let religion censor your brain. If these thought are just coming to you naturally then you should be able to examine them freely. Maybe, something has happened to you lately that has put you in a dark mood. If you try and shut them out because you think you are "sinning" then they will become buried deep inside you. They could even possibly manifest themselves later in your life.
I'm usually pretty cheerful, but there are times that I get in a really dark mood. This is usually caused by some outside force (dealing with shitty drivers on the road, my boss says something to me that pisses me off, or even the fast food guy was a jerkoff). These outside influences cause me to find an outlet for that anger and it will come up at thoughts of violence. Sometimes the thoughts are a way for me to rip the head off my boss and feel better about him pissing me off, and if they don't help I usually take a really long run, beat the crap outta my punching bag, or just lift weights.

Native teachings have some things to add to our teachings.
One, they say there is a force building up in the Earth called the FEAR. Note the wording in Isaiah 24:18. KJV.
After studying many things, I see that we create real energies with our spirit, and many negative energies are pulled into the Earth by magnetism. This is the FEAR. They can make us see
hallucinations, and feel pain, but it's on a psychic level. The "locusts" that come out of the PIT in Revelation?
They also say that there are spiritual beings called elemantals.
They help to form material things. But there is a counterpart, that
breaks down psychic matter for recycling, and these
entities put negative thoughts in our minds. But they are just
doing thier job.
Now think if there are spirits with intelligence and a desire to harm us?
Imagine a light of protection around you in your minds eye.
And call on our Highest Power for protection.

It sounds like depression to me. If u are under a lot of stress or if something has happened in your life recently. Even if u have recently watched some bad new on t.v lately they will cause moderate to severe depression. Most people do not know that they are depressed when depression strikes. Take your vitamins everyday that include b complex-b2,b3,b6,b12, take your folic acid also. these lack of vitamins could cause such thoughts from the low intake of serotonin. ur parents can get you a good multiviatmin at walmart or something that will work. just relax, take a COLD shower and do not eat too much sugar. U will get better.
Good Luck!

Yes, the bible states that violent thoughts are a sin (part of that hating and anger thing).
But for the real world, EVERYBODY has violent thoughts; it's part of being human (they were helpful when we weere cavemen). As long as you don't act on them in innapropriate ways you're fine. I use boxing myself; it lets me channel anger on defenseless bags.

Not bad at all. All people go through weird stages even if they do personally freak themselves out. And it depends if you actually LIKE having these thoughts..which I hope not..It is not a sin unless your dream is mixed in w/ YOUR actions that YOU decide to do! Don't worry bout it!

It's my belief that we are never more vunerable than at 14 or so, to Satan lies and deception. 14 marked the point when I, turned and started walking in the opposite direction to Jesus. I thank the Lord that I am now back on track.
Such thoughts are placed in our heads by the enemy to trick us into thinking they're our thoughts so that we will take ownership of them. I for one, can recall having similar thoughts and thinking "wow! where did that come from", and "what's that doing in my head". Just don't accept them as your own.
My advice is three fold:
a) when ever thoughts like these enter our heads, we should simply reject them as foriegn and not belonging to us. Resist them and they will go away.
b) resist also giving power to such thoughts by not speaking them into being. They are not your thoughts so don't fall into the trap of making them yours.
c) last but by no means least, look for protection in Jesus.

I think it depends on what these dark thoughts are on and what is going on in your life. You could just have situational depression due to some stress in your life. Find someone to talk to if that's the case.
