The reason I ask this question is a do a crockpot meal, adding potatos last, lately I've found the potatos have been turning color from the air hitting them. What kind of potato doesn't do this? Idaho? I know Michigan ones sure do!!! :-( HELP!!

Try using blue or purple potatoes, or peel the potatoes you normally use just before you add them to the crock pot.

Their is no such thing,but while cooking to avoid the color change after removing the skin place the potatoes in something containing cold water,that will do the trick.

Any potatoe will do thid if you spray it with a little lemon juice. It is the same with apples in a fruit salad. It is not enough to change the taste.

A couch potato but you can get in trouble putting them in a crockpot; and they don't stay still for peeling.

All potatoes oxidize.

You can minimize the oxidation effects by covering them with some lemon juice.

As you peel them, add them to a bowl of cold water with a bit of lemon juice. They will stay white.

Works on Apples and pears too

You can stop the oxidation with a little citrus juice. any kind of acidic citrus juice will do the trick.

They all do, try keeping them covered with water until you are ready to add them to whatever.

They all do.. If you keep them covered in cold water they will be just fine.
