Shades can be very decorative and aren't a pain in the neck to dust like blinds. They offer complete privacy and better light control than blinds. If you want the light coming through the window to be softer after you pull the blind all the way up you can always hang sheers or lace curtains under the drapes. Shades look nicer and more uniform from the street.

Shades obviously. Blinds would look really silly on your face!!

Blinds of course - they are more versatile. You can block light (granted not as well as a shade) and you can let light through in limited amounts.

I personally prefer blinds as I like to choose whether to let the daylight and sunlight in depending on the time of day and the season.

Shades........because they block more sunlight than blinds.

Curtains....they add texture and color.

But if i have to choose...Shades seem to have a really fresh look these days. Smart and contemporary.
