You can't help but think that they are a bit. Of course it's not all of them but you can't deny that a lot of them do react very aggressively to criticism by burning flags and effigies even though these are the same types who are quick to label western women as sluts as they don't cover themselves head to toe and have an opinion. They are also not shy when criticising other religions. I just can't understand the kind of mind that doesn't see that such criticisms only go to prove the critics right. Also, aren't these the same people who kicked up hell about a silly cartoon only to build an effigy of the Pope. To me that's just sheer hypocrisy!
Religion has always been ugly, faith is fine as it's something else but religion is all about man made rules and control.

I don't know about that, but since I've been coming on here I have found that Atheists fall into the category of sensitive and defensive.
You ask
Can you mention the word Islam without one retaliating aggressively?
Well, once again, since coming on here I have realised that No, you can't. But it doesn't seem to be the Muslims that are getting aggressive! It's the Atheists!
Their answers are FAR more aggressive than the Muslims!
I am neither an Atheist or a Muslim.
I am also not religious.

Whether they are or not, they are losing the public relations war.
It's like shooting fish in a barrel (to coin a phrase). All a western leader needs to do, is make one light remark, and violence erupts around the world, and the television cameras are there to catch it all. It seems strange that the cameras are always there as yet another group of outraged people take to the streets.
I think there is a carefully orchestrated media campaign going on, and all muslims need to be a little more savvy about how they are being portrayed. They have to realise that they are playing into the hands of people who are very skilled at influencing public opinion.

I believe muslims are over sensitive and defensive. If you ask me, this is a characteristic sign of someone who is obviously not confident in their own belief otherwise they wouldnt threaten to kill you the moment you said anything about their religion, for example the Danish cartoons of muhammed or the popes quote of a 13th century byzantium emperor.
And despite what all muslims say that terrorists are not acting the way islam instructs them and islam preaches peace im affraid this is also wrong. If you read the quran ( Surah 5.36) it says "Speaking as an oracle of allah, mohammed commanded that all those who opposed his message be killed or they should be nailed on a tree or their hands and legs cut off". Furthermore, we read in Surah 47:4 "Muslims are commanded by Allah to smite the necks of all those who do not accept the teachings of islam until they are thoroughly subdued" it then continues to say " So, when you meet in fight (jihad) those who disbelieve smite at their necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them, then bind a bond firmly (take them captive)". So if a muslim ever tries to tell you there religion is one of peace, dont believe a word of it.

Actually this is rubbish. Imagine if Al Jezeera went to Millwall and interviewed a local marketstall holder and stated that his racist drivel is representative of all the British people or if all they showed BNP marches through Asian areas and said this was what happened all the time in the UK, would you complain that they were a little biased and were skewing the news to suit their agenda. Well this is what is happening in the majority of the press, they focus on a minority of disaffected youth or some insane beardy bloke with a hook who preaches eating infidel babies and it appears that all Muslims believe this to be the case. After all it would not make good news if they interviewed some muslim guy who worked in a toothpaste factory in stoke and did not have an opinion on any newsworthy stories.

It appears that Extreme factions of Muslims are highly sensitive to anything said about their Prophet Mohammedan and will resort to violence in defense of their believe system. I never had the experience of meeting a Muslim who was moderate (if I can state it that way). Muslim may not be as sensitive or defensive as those who are involved in Terrorist activities in the name of their God.

They do seem to be over sensitive the culture is very different to our own. I think any religion that is intolerant of any other one is very dangerous.
I would like to see the Muslims offering the same respect to our religions as they expect from us for theirs but I don't think that will happen and that is why there is so much resentment at the moment.

It's not the word religion.....it's what all of a sudden it means in this country.....the world really.
We say the Muslims are sensitive and defensive....Christians in this country are becoming exactly the same. They're fanatical...and if you don't believe exactly what they believe you're going to hell.
It's getting really scary and sad. Whatever happened to respecting another's choices?

hi, the word is overly sensitive, yes they indeed will behead you as they do to them themselves on regular basis on the slightest provocation. And the crow here denies this as fact, that islam is a savage, brutal and intolerant belief system of anarchists.

No, they just protect their religion because they believe religion is sacred, unlike the Western world which likes to poke fun at Christianity as they mistakenly believe that you have to be able to laugh at yourself, though what they are really doing is laughing at God and I don't think God appreciates that.
