Contrary to popular belief atheism is not the opposite of religion. It is:
1.the doctrine or belief that there is no God.
2.disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings.
So if one were to believe in a religion that did not have a god they would be considered atheist, like Buddhists, Taoist, Wiccans (sp?) and any other religion that didn't require you to believe in deities.
Those three would be my top 3 well known atheistic religions, although most westerners haven't heard or know little about Tao.

Yes, there are atheistic religions, but it's better to call them non-theistic, to avoid confusion, even though it means exactly the same thing. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Buddhism.
Edit: "but it IS a belief. and it DOES have to do with the 2 main questions EVERY religion asks. "where did we come from?" and "where are we going?""
Actually, that's 100% untrue. Atheism just means you don't believe in god. It has nothing to do with what you believe instead, and doesn't make any claim that you even have an answer to those questions. A lot of atheists simply admit that those questions are unanswered as of yet.

all these people will say athiesm isnt a religion. but it IS a belief. and it DOES have to do with the 2 main questions EVERY religion asks. "where did we come from?" and "where are we going?" the only difference is that "religions" believe in divine intervention and athiests believe in natural laws and more scientific proofs. otherwise you both are classified as a "belief" or a kind of "religion"

I've never heard of an 'Atheist' religion. To have a 'religion' you must first believe in a deity. And Atheists don't believe. Please answer this question with your examples of the 3 atheist religions you speak of.

I was unaware that atheists had sects. I am intrigued. Please tell me too. I love to learn about religions as well as non religious groups. I think it keeps the mind open to know as much about other faiths as possible.

Most Buddhists are atheistic, or at least neutral on the issue of god(s).

Atheism is the very definition of anti-religion. That question makes no sense.

Humanism. Though it is not really a religion, it's the closest thing to one.

In all honesty, the say they don't conform but they do, we all do in some ways.
Just look at the new science ignored because it deals with spiritual overlaps or previously explain metaphysical beginnings, it has been repeatable but still ignored.
So by denying this, they conformed.
