I know a guy who will go into a restraraut and order a cheap entree, then he will eat only salad from the complimentary salad bar until he is full, and then takes the entree home for another meal.I think it is tacky and cheap as he makes a decent wage.

Yes, very tacky, LOL, I hope he is at least leaving a decent tip to his waitress/waiter, server. Oh my, just when you have thought you've heard it all.

Why is it tacky?

He's eating all his food. He's paying only what is fair... even if it's cheap. He's not eating anyone else's food. The restaurant's charging him for both the "complimentary" salad and the entree... and regardless of how much he earns, if he chooses he's not hungry enough for his entree, but would rather eat a salad and eat the entree he's paid for WHENEVER he feels like it is not tacky. Usually when I go to a mexican restaurant and even chilli's they serve chips and they take their SWEET ol' time to bring the food. By the time they come with the food I'm full with chips and soda, so I take most of it home to eat for lunch the next day. It's not cheap or tacky, it's just common sense. Why would I leave good food at the restaurant or force myself to eat it, or starve myself until they think it's been a good time to let me wait.

However, I know "that guy" should probably change his company and take a less judgemental biotch to dinner or lunch, 'cause you're pushin' it honey.

Well, it's perfectly legal. And it's fine to order a larger portion than you know you can finish in order to enjoy leftovers later.
As a regular practice, though, if he doesn't even touch the entree, that is kinda tacky. He should just get take-out, it would be even more frugal in the long run.
(even if he makes a decent wage, he may have expenses you're not aware of, so his budget for food may be pretty small).

haha....thats cheap...but to each his own...for the ammount you pay for most entrees you should be getting two meals..especially if you eat out more than a few times a week....it adds up fast

if lunch is 6 dollars a day, and dinner $12 with tip...after 5 days its about $90...thats $350 to $400 a month if you eat out twice a day 5 days a week which a lot of people do....its why they make to go boxes

Since he has paid for the entire meal, there's actually nothing wrong with it. On the other hand, if he did this on a date, that would be really tacky. Just because he makes a good wage doesn't mean he has to eat his whole meal at the restaurant.

I think it would be tacky if he took a date along with him to do this, otherwise I'd say it's "quirky" not "tacky". I'd be interested in knowing what he spends on, if he's frugal at the restaurant he may be saving money for a $400 pair of shoes. You never will know...

What's wrong with that? He paid for the meal and the salad is complimentary- which he probably paid for in somehow anyway. I think it's tacky that you are bothered by that.

Bet he stuffs ketchup packets in his pants too. I think the only thing that would make what this guy does tacky is if he used a coupon for the cheap entree and had it put into two separate doggy bags. Now that's tacky.

Yes, it is tacky and cheap. I also think that it is stealing from the salad bar and leaving with a free meal. I wouldn't go out to eat with him.

It probably is tacky and cheap but when it comes time to retire we'll all be doing what he's doing now and he'll be living well from all the money he's saved.

As long as he's paying for it, it makes good economic sense to me. Two meals for the price of one. It may be tacky if he's doing it on dates, but what the heck.
