I find it odd that Christians base their religion on the death/sacrifice of Jesus? It seems a little cruel to hang a picture or statue of a dead man nailed to a cross over your bed in the bedroom. Sure, the Jews remember and respect the six million Jews that were gassed alive during WWII but they don't pray to little statues of them. I don't get it? Someone please explain this seemingly untasteful act of religion. Also, how do you explain that Jesus sacrificed his life for all Christians?

You have much to learn about Christianity. CATHOLICISCM is the basis for any statue of Jesus. It is stated in the bible not to have a statue or idol of anything in heaven. And the explanation for Jesus' sacrifice is written over and over in the bible, maybe you should read it.

Not all Christians pray to statues or even use crosses in their symbolism. My church doesn't because we prefer to focus on the living Christ, rather than his method of death. However the atonement is at the heart of our religion.

Now, everything about how the atonement works is a huge topic, and I'm sure you'd have this question resolved before I could even begin to really dig into it.

So the best I can do is a quick run-over of the basics:

1) Humans are subject to two kinds of death; physical (obviously) and spiritual (separation from God because we are imperfect and no impure thing can dwell in the presence of God).

2) These two forms of deaths inherently lead to suffering.

3) In order to be a just God and a merciful God Jesus was chosen as a mediator, someone who could experience this suffering by proxy for and in behalf of us. Only Jesus could do this because he was without sin, and because of His parents, from Mary, His mother, he inherited the ability to die, for God, His father, He inherited the ability to choose not to die.

4) It's important to remember that the Atonement was made complete by the resurrection. That's the point, because of what Christ did we can live again - physically, and we have the chance to repent and live again spiritually.

As I said, that's just a bare skimming of the basics. I hope that made sense.

Best wishes

hi, The “a person” you so blasé vine is the Son God. It was much, much crueler to torture and crucify Him. The Jews you claim that were gassed, pales the number Christians gassed, thousands and thousands of priests and nuns, 12-16 million of Poland’s citizens. The Jews can’t pray to the Son of God because they denied Him, get it, just a little menorah. Jesus gave His life freely for all; so don’t forget to yell out loud, when you’re dying, Jesus Christ! Ok

Not all Christians worship images and statues of Jesus on the cross. Every person in teh world should have been up on the cross but Jesus took everyone's pain and suffering on himself. But its not just based on teh death. Chirst also raised from the dead so sin was conquered. He gave his life for everyone not just Christians. We as peope are given a choice to accept that sacrifice or not

there's a undeniable portion of Christianity it extremely is according to faith. on account that Christianity is prepared contained in direction of the classes of the Bible. you could desire to learn the Bible for your self and philosophy helps, to boot. Then evaluate the failings you study with certainty and notice if the Bible describes the international as that's and because it extremely works or competing philosophies. you additionally can seem on the historic evidences that are precise interior the Bible and the failings that have been prophesied 1000's of years until now they handed off. in case you come across those data and the evidences of the define of guy to be precise, then, you have the choice to have self belief the the remainder of the non secular components of Christianity (the unseen issues) by skill of religion. i'm taking a direction perfect now evaluating philosophies and the Bible. The previous week we study contained in direction of the Bible's description of human nature and behaviour and why we desire God's power to alter us and make us reliable. Then we study Maslow's and Rousseau's writings. They suggested that guy is finally reliable and there is not any data of evil inherent in guy. Is that certainty? Is that what we see around us? no longer in all probability. it extremely is an occasion of examining distinctive teachings and asking questions. I quite have an opinion approximately certainty in answer on your question. yet each and every individual could desire to come to a determination for himself if he famous data adequate to desire or have self belief.

First of all, it is not Christians who determined how men would be reconciled to God; we just believe that Jesus died on a cross to save us from our sins, as the bible says.

I cannot speak for God, so I will leave the question, why is this the way to salvation, open for Him to speak to you, if you choose to ask Him.

I do not pray to little statues...I am not Catholic. The bible says not to make any graven images, of anything representing anything on heaven or on earth. Hm!

It is a made up religion, and in the beginning it catered to those who were looking for a better life. You can always find the poor and downtrodden who will follow you. That is what the Radical Muslims are doing now. And, it hurts all of Islam.

But, G-d is One. Christianity is illogical.

Jesus Christ is the Lord, Master of All Things Seen and Unseen, Creator and God, and he lives for all eternity. Try reading the New Testament and you will begin to understand why we worship one God which is the Holy Trinity. God chose to be born of the Blessed Virgin to defeat death thereby, saving all those who choose to believe in him to live forever in Heaven after we die. Pictures of Jesus and the crucifix remind of how much God loves us that he accepted a cruel death, death on a cross to save each of us. Even you. Do you know of anyone willing to be crucified to death to save you? Jesus died for all humanity and he brought himself back to life at the resurrection thus conquering death.

Because Jesus is not dead but the risen Lord and the light of the world. His sacrifice was given for us that we might not face spiritual death but receive eternal life. For jesus was the perfect son of God. His perfect sacrifice was foreshadowed by the sacrificial offering of the spotless lambs in the old testament. He gave his life that we might live. He is the Gift of God, mans only hope for salvation from our sins. God does not look on the believer and see his sin... he see's the prefection of Christ instead.
