I heard that they can go about 70 metres in 20 seconds. I think this must be incorrect however as a human can run a 100 metres in 9 seconds approximately.

Good Question!!

A Cheetah can run at up to 70mph which works out at about 684 yards in 20 seconds.. sorry I'm an oldie and still work out things in the old stuff, however a cheetah can only maintain this speed for about 100 yards maximum, so it would cover 100 yards in under 3 seconds but it would be very tired (to put it mildly) for the rest of the day to do anything else

Cheetahs can run at up to 70 miles per hour (120 Kilometres per hour) so doing the math:

12000mph/60(minutes)/ 60 (seconds)x 20= metres/

12000/60=200metres per minute/60 = 3.33 metres per scond x 20 =66.67 metres in 20 seconds.

Or about 217' in 20 seconds.
