It is not easy, but if you just try not to be affected by their attitude you will feel better.

Try to ignore them, and if this is not possible then just dont feed into them and they will eventually get bored at the idea of being center of attention. I work with a few of these types, and believe me it is hard somedays. I usually drown them out with listening to music instead of having to listen to them talk all day.

Let the light shine until it burns out or the electricity bill comes! Meanwhile, rehearse plenty for your turn because there will be plenty of people thinking the same thing about you when you're out there.

Let them have it. This way everyone will be able to focus on them especially well, even when things aren't going so great. It is always better to be modest.

Then fulfill their desire. Put them in the spotlight.

Put them in it, in such a way, they won't forget it. You shine that light and make it bright. They won't come back for a second feeding.
