you will use it up before it spoils ....cut any mold off....and if it gets dry and hard still use it grated its great....

Cheese can age for as long as you want without really spoiling. It can dry out, but if your parmesan is already hard (for grating) then you don't really need to worry about this. It also can grow mold, but there is no problem with slicing off the mold and eating the rest of the cheese. I believe that parmesan should last a very long time since it is a salty, hard cheese. Softer cheeses need to be watched more carefully, but still, cheese rarely becomes bad for you it might just loose its texture or grow mold. In Greece, the cheese is almost never refridgerated before you buy it--especially if you buy it at market. I've never even had a problem with unrefridgerated feta (a soft cheese), but I do suggest you refridgerate your cheese to slow deterioration and mold growth. Anyway, you should have months to use your parmesan. Just check it for mold before using it the next time.

For a very long time. If it grows some mold on the outside, you can just cut it off and the cheese will still be fine to eat. You should probably wrap it really well in plastic wrap, though. It will dry out and become a big piece of plastic before anything else. But parmasean has a low moisture content, so it will be fine for quite some time.

Probably for a pretty long time. Parmesan cheese is aged at the very least for several months and dried, so there's little moisture in it to actually let it go bad quickly.
As it sits it will get stronger in taste and scent, but it will be just fine for eating as long as it doesn't start looking sickly green or growing fuzz.

You will see it: the cheese starts to turn blue! "Permiggiano" can be kept for a long time before it gets spoiled...

Not long. Use it soon. If mold appears, throw it away. Don't just cut off the mold, as it will be through the entire piece even if you can't see it inside the piece.
