do you need to use the dative case when using "obwohl" and does the verb go last in the sentence?

kslnet is right with her example "Ich arbeite, obwohl ich müde bin.".

But if you start the sentence with "obwohl", to use the same example, then you would say "Obwohl ich müde bin, arbeite ich".

The verb is not the last word you see in the sentence, but it is before the article or the adjective, if that's what you mean.

I hope this helps!

Alles Gute!

"Obwohl", meaning "although", is a conjunction, not a preposition, so it's not followed by a noun and thus it makes no sense to talk about what case to use. You do indeed have to put the verb at the end of the clause e.g.

Ich arbeite, obwohl ich müde bin.

EDIT: in response to Belindita's comment, that's why I said the verb goes at the end of the *clause*, which is not necessarily the end of the sentence. In "Obwohl ich müde bin, arbeite ich", the part of the sentence before the comma is a single clause, in which the verb "bin" appears at the end.

Racking my brains from my german degree, yes you need to use dative (I think) and yes the verb definitely goes to the end.
