This is incredible. First of all, what are the pope's words compared to the terrible acts commited by Taliban and Al-qaeda, noth of them incredibly influential Muslim groups. Besides, the pope never meant any harm and he was in fact quoting a 14th century Byzantine emeperor. And even if he wasn't, doesn't the pope also have the right to express his own opinion. The rule that said that popes were infallible in matters of faith and morality was taken out by Pope Paul IV and since Vatican II it has been rcognized the Pope is a human being allowed to err. And just so you know I have nothing against Islam, I actually have Muslim friends, and I disagree with the emperor's comments about everything new of Islam being evil and dark. Yet it is true nothing in Islam is new, Confucionists banned images long time ago and it could be argued the Quran is based on a mixture of the Old Testament, especially Psalms, Genesis, and Exodus.

I am not even Catholic and I say he should never have needed to make any apologies for what the Islamic nation is showing to be truthful. There is no Pope in Islam.
Islam is only lies, so why would I trust a Muslim website? It looks like theyve managed to suck you into their trap. Way to go, now you'll never be free. I respect and admire our Pope Benedict XVI who is one of the successors of Peter and our Vicar of Christ on earth. He is a humble and gentle soul and I pray a rosary for him each day. You are entitled to your opinion of course, but I respectfully disagree with you. God Speed, Holy Father, and may the Holy Spirit continue to guide you in all truth as you shepherd your flock here on earth with the love and peace of Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

I'm not catholic, but I don't get why its perfectly okay for the world to criticize christianity, but the pope reading an antique manuscript that criticizes islam is cause for mass uprisings. It's ludicrous.
