I'm 23 and I eat dinner with my family almost every night. If I miss dinner one night, it's always for a good reason...studying late at the library, working out late at the gym, or having dinner with friends. But pretty much...we have dinner together every night, and it has always been this way. It is a well-known fact that children who eat dinner with their family are less likley to use drugs, or alcohol, and do better in school, and do not get into trouble with "friends". Of course this is not always 100%, but it does decrease the chanes of it happening. I ask this question because just recently on the radio in California, I heard that Sept. 25th was family dinner day, so that families would make sure to eat together. This just struck me as a realization that the US family structure is withering apart and effecting our children negatively. I hope that all of you try to eat with your family much more often and keep tight family bonds! Please be honest with your answer and with yourself!

This is a great question! I am 28 years old and my husband and children and i all eat dinner together every night. That is a challenge because my oldest is autistic and doesn't eat normal foods, but we still make the effort every day.

I even go a step beyond that and cook "Sunday Lunch" for my mother and grandmother almost every weekend. i've lost family memebers tragically and we have learned that there are no gaurontees in life. My elderly granmother loves our weekly lunches becasue it gives her sometihng to lok forward to all week and my children benifit from her wisdom. I also like knowing that they will have those special memories of their grannies as they get older. It's a blessing for us all.

Everyone....cherish your loved one and spend as much time with them as you can...life is oh so very short!

I'm 61 - have five children and "almost" nine grandchildren. I'm an empty-nester, but I cook dinner every Sunday for the whole family. It's a great occasion - we have a wonderful family organization and we have family meetings at least once a month to plan family events and/or responsibilities. The grandkids have a great opportunity to play together, and once a month we get together with a family of cousins who now live in the same town. I wish we could eat together more often, but my grown children have their own families, so I feel lucky that this once-a-week dinner has become a tradition.
