Yes. It helps them sleep. They need their beauty rest just like people. Because if you keep them up all the time. They get cranky and might start feather plucking. Most birds should have about 8-10 hours of sleep aday. It keeps them healthy. Lots a sleep and a good diet and you will have a very wonderful companion for many years to come...

I do not believe in covering a bird's cage to sleep at night. Although birds need 12-15 hours of sleep a day, if the cage is covered, but still in a room where the TV is on at night, he still will not sleep.
I have seen too many birds that get "night frights", and they have hurt themselves. I would just put him in a room where there is no activity at night, and give him a night light.

I hope this helps.

I dont have a grey but I do have a parrot, and I have an old beach towel to cover his cage. In fact, allot of the time he covers it himself! I would suggest that you cover the cage each night around the same time, this trains your bird that it is night night time. My bird starts saying "goodnight, love you , see you in the morning" around 10 Pm each night, we usually hit the hay around then so he has gotten use to lights off and he is in his cage ready for the night. In the morning we lift the towel if he hasn't gotten it done and we begin our day.

Sure. It helps you sleep in when you need to and gives your grey a chance to see you two more times a day. Before night when you cover him, and again in the morning.

the idea behind covering the cage is so the bird wont make noise in the morning.. whe the sun comes up at 5 in the morning then youd rather not have him/her making african grey noises before you rise.. the idea that it helps the bird rest is not true.. it helps the bird owner get their rest..

real, assuming you desire to maintain your chicken on your room, then im additionally assuming it will be darkish at nighttime in case you arent in it. so the chicken will certainly roost whilst darkish, and be quiet mutually as your housemate tries to sleep! in spite of the undeniable fact that, there is the daybreak refrain to computer screen out for, and he will probable make an outstanding little bit of noise first component, whilst the solar comes up and the outdoors birds start up chirruping. conceal him up as quickly as you return in from artwork, and detect him once you awaken, so hes quiet mutually as you sleep, yet not remoted from you once you're wide awake. Its stable to be certain which you have achieved your study, yet only ensure you may spare the time he desires interacting with him, as a chicken, particularly a grey, that isnt getting adequate interest will quickly become a squawker which will rigidity everybody nuts
