Not only is this true but the observer can usually tell immediately if the person truly embraces the christian religion.

I am not a christian, but I am often in the company of members of the clergy, and they are very dear friends. One once told me that Christianity was the leading cause of atheism. He did say it slightly in jest, but I could tell how heavy it weighed upon his heart.

As with many religions, the principles are the same, "Do unto others....cast the first stone....love unconditionally..." No one religion has the corner on the market in "saving souls." And I absolutely agree with the principles but I do not need, seek or want others telling me what to believe.

Good question. Peace.

A lot of people identify themselves as Christians simply because they believe in God, not because they go to church, read the Bible, or do anything else of that nature. I'm assuming that this is along the lines of what your pastor was talking about.

By that logic, it's safe to say that most Christians are not true Christians. But like someone else said, it's not up to us to judge other people's standings with God. The fact that someone is not loudly proclaiming to be a "Jesus Freak" or whathaveyou does not mean that person is not right with God. Now, I don't know that your pastor was actually saying any of this, whereas I did not hear the actual sermon. But from past experience, when people say that most Christians are not "true" Christians, this is what they are talking about.

I think your pastor is correct
I don't believe he is "judging" anyone. He is making a general statement. My pastor states this a lot. There are people that are like sponges when they go to church. They just sit there and let it soak in but when they leave it slowly drips out. When you claim to be a Christian, you are walking with he Lord, giving Him your whole life, every thought, decision, etc. Not just on Sunday.

Your pastor is truly right. Christ was the only "real" one for God His Father, but the many who claim to be Christian, those many don't know the meaning or don't act like Christ at all.

I find polls to be interesting. Some say America is 85% Christian, others say 10% Christians. I'm leaning toward the latter.

America is split evenly on divorce, homosexuality and abortion. America is the world's largest producer of porn and consumer of illegal drugs. The most dangerous place for humans here is the womb, where you have less than a 50% chance of being born alive.

If God does not punish America, He will have to apoligize to Sodom and Gomorrah. (We know that isn't going to happen.)

I agree with your pastor and believe ~2% of those who SAY they are Christians really ARE Christians who pick up their cross daily.

Being a True Christian is just a form of religion. If someone is not a true Christian is just means they don't follow the exact rules that your pastor feels is a true Christian.

I hope your pastor told you that it does not mean these people are any worse or better than "True Christians".

What pastors do not tell you is that religion is just a HUMAN MADE form of faith to worship a God of that persons choice.

Religion is not GOD made any more than it is made by Space Aliens. What counts is that you are happy with your life and that you do not make other people unhappy in their own life.

Faith is different than religion.

Always remember that a person that worships a Rock or a Golden Idol has just as much proof and reason to worship those things as you and your pastor have to worship your God and the things that a HUMAN man named Jesus Christ chose to teach others.

Always remember that Pastors are just humans that chose to worship a specific religion and chose to try to get other people to believe the same way they do... it DOES NOT mean they are right and correct in their choice, but their choice is no less correct than any other religious leader.

Have a GREAT Day !!!

I agree, many think they are Christians because they believe there is a God, or were born to Christian parents or are Americans, but they haven't asked Jesus to be Lord of their life.

What does Jesus say?
Matthew 7:13-14
"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."

A lot of people perform their service to God "with lipservice as menpleasers" as the Scripture says, meaning that they "act' like Christians for the recognition instead of the reward.
