This is an invention that would be used in the beverage industry. I have looked into both a design and utility patent and the cost is mind boggling. How can one get past that and still get their ideas in the public venue?

don't tell anyone about it. hehehhe

get someone to sponsor you and have them pay for it. usually a company in the industry that your patent applies will help. but you must make sure that you get residuals from the sales for a lifetime.

Write down, draw, or whatever you have to do toget your invention on paper and then mail it to yourself...registered mail through the Postal Service. When you get it, don't open it. You're idea is sealed inside and the envelope is stamped with a date.

Talk to someone at SCORE. They are part of the SBA.
