Of course I've taken her to the doctor, we're waiting for the results from the stool sample. I'm not an idiot, just anxious.

Could be something non-threatening like an anal fissure. But it could also be some of the other things people mentioned.

Because of the mucous, some kind of bowel irritation is a possibility. Could be as minor as ordinary diarrhea or as severe as an infection or cancer.

Definitely take the child to a Doctor in the next 24 hours. ER if the kid has a fever.

This is your child. As much as everyone here all meant well, you should not want to take our words for it. It may be very minor or it may not, especially when she saids she is experiencing pain. My suggestion is to take your daughter to see a doctor at your earliest convenience because of the pain.... pain is usually your body's way of telling you something is not right.

Call her doctor- us idots on Yahoo Answer's shouldn't hplay a part in your daughter's health and welfare.
If you do not have a doctor, go to the emergency room- it could ne alot of things.
But 1st think of what she's eaten in the last 48 hours... any red foods? Jell-O or anything? That could be the culprit as well.

Your daughter may have an anal fissure. These are a minor annoyance. Take her in to her Pediatrician for further evaluation. If it is a fissure, OTC stool softeners will most likely be recommended.

Is there any possibility of trauma? Sexual or other wise? your four year old could be straining to defecate and causing the blood. I would take my child to a Dr. if this continues.
