I have a 6 months old doberman, she has a 6 months old rotty. We took the dogs on the field for a run and he did try humping like most dogs do dog but i know that nothing could have happened. She's really excited - i'm not impressed. Can this really be happpening at such a young age - i'm sure not. I personally thinks she's player short of a team. Help please.

The female would have to be 'in season' for it to take, even if it did happen. I seriously doubt that a person took a Rotty female into a public place while she was in heat - they can be quite powerful in their wish to breed, and attract male dogs from miles.

For one thing your neighbour should have NEVER taken out her pup if she was possibly in season. For another, if she is pregnant then that pregnancy needs to be ended ASAP. Normally a dog can only get pregnant if she's mounted whilst in season. Was there a tie? If it was a proper mating there is normally a tie. However I strongly suggest that she take her pup to the vets to be *absolutely* sure. A checkup never harms anyone where pregnancy is concerned, especially in such young dogs.

And as for neutering at 6 months, for a femalethey should never be spayed until after their first season. If the owner is responsible you can keep a ***** unspayed for about a year and half to let her mature before she is spayed. Yes they can be spayed at 6 months but often spaying so young leaves you with a mentally young dog all their lives. We had our Spaniel fixed at 18 months old and he was absolutely fine. If humping behaviour is discouraged at a young age as we did with ours, it can be kept within reason. It's only when it's not discouraged that it can become a problem until they're neutered. Even neutered dogs can hump to the point of annoyance because they have not been trained not to do it.

there's not a whole lot to say. if her dog's pregnant, that's her problem. she can't prove that your dog sired the litter. besides, as mean as it sounds, that's one of the perils of owning a female. if that happens, the owner of the female gets all the responsibility of whelping the litter, the house breaking, the everything until the pups find new homes. if she's that excited about it, she should have had her dog fixed, or, should not have allowed her dog to run freely with a male dog period. it's not your responsibility to worry about her dog being pregnant or not. i certainly hope she isn't, for no more reason that a 6 month old rottie having a litter will permanently damage her. but aside from that, not your dog, and how in the world is she going to prove it?

I beleive this is possible. You can get your dog fixed at 6 months, I assume this is because the dogs can pro-create at this point.

If the rotti is pregnant, the pups will be GREAT! I have a doberman/rotti mix and she is the best dog I've ever had.

Why is you dog not neutered? And yes dogs hump to show dominance, but it leads to an unwanted litter if neither dog is fixed.

I'm glad she's excited and I hope to god she finds homes for this dogs that are ready to take on the challenges that come with having a rott or a dobie.

Well you are supposed to spay/neuter at 6 months so it must be possible for them to reproduce at this age. There is no way to tell if the pups belong to your dog short of a DNA test, if she's even actually pregnant. If she's ok with it-don't worry. But if you don't want any more pups get your guy neutered ASAP.

Its very doubtful that at six months your dog would be sexually mature enough for a Rottweiler to let it mate with her. i had a female Rotty for years and if your neigbours dog is pregnat then its her responsability for letting a dog in heat out and about. like with most animals the females will try and mate with the stongest and generally more mature males, so i don't think you have too much to worry about.

Unless her dog has had a season which I doubt at that age and unless she was in season at the time no she wont be pregnant. Your neighbour needs to realise if and when her dog is in season all male dogs will try it on with her so she needs to keep it on the lead.

She is a nutter. Even if her dog was pregnant, why is she so happy, the dog is too young and is in danger of dying during birthing. She is definitely a case of the lights are on but no one's home.
