Do you think everyone needs to go through a stage of singlehood? I've been with my BF for 4 yrs, I'm 21, we've been 2gether since I was 17, he's a lil' older than me. Anyways, I've never been single, he was the first guy I dated and the only. Is the single life something that needs to be explored in order to be 'satisfied' with your relationship decisions present?

If your heart is telling you that you want to experience single life, then deep down inside, your relationship isn't as strong as you wish it too be. If your brain is telling you, them most likely you are hearing this from friends or other people around you, that you need to experience single life in order to be satisfied, and if thats the case, you shouldn't follow your brain. I sure hope I made sense, I wrote it several times. Basically follow your heart all the times when it comes to things regarding love, your brain is influenced by others, but you and only you have a say in what your heart feels.

Not only is single time important its necessary at your age. You just spent 4 yrs with this guy so give yourself a few years of just being single and having fun. Dont waste these fun years in another long term relationship. You have so much time for that later. Hang out with your friends and date different guys. Do different things and go different places. Then when you find the one you will feel as though you had a great life in your twenties and are ready for your 30's and the changes it brings.

Following your heart is generally the way people should go. But they need to also use their head in order to use good judgement. Setting aside your intelligence and common sense for the heart can be a bad situation.

IE: You are attracted to a guy, he's been in and out of jail, do you follow your heart or use good judgement and move on? Well the right answer is move on... and the girls that follow their heart only are just in for a lifetime of hurt.

The heart should be guarded through common sense and good judgement.
