I think you were (or still are) married to a cop, and if you are a nurse practioner, you are the most insensitive I've ever had the displeasure of coming across. If you're bitter take it out on him, not the entire police force. You are very childish.

I can't say that they are good for nothing donut eaters, but I can say that not all of them are good. I've known people to get screwed over by the police. There are actually some cases where I think the police are worthless because they go after the wrong people, or abuse their job. A few years ago there was a police situation across the street from my house. The people said that my neighbor had locked himself inside the house and was holding his nephew hostage. The police in the front of the house heard shooting coming from the back of the house and decided to shoot at the house leaving other people that had been evacuated from that house out in the street right in the way. You wanna know what really happened?? The nephew told me everything that happened that day and it wasn't anything like the police said. There was a cop on the backside of the house who fired shots at my neighbor when he stepped out his backdoor. The police in the front assumed that my neighbor had fired at them so they returned fire. Isn't that nice?? Well, they ended up shooting my neighbor in the head. Then the police searched the house for over 10 hours trying to find something to pin on him... they didn't even find a gun!!!! My mom has a fire from the fire department who informed us that the cops placed a gun there saying it was the gun he used to fire upon them, when really it was the other cops in the back that had fired. See, I don't trust the cops because they can do anything wrong and nothing even happens. So, I don't like them and they've never helped me. So, sorry to all you good cops out there, but their are to many who give the rest a bad name.

Police officers are like any other proffesion, they are human beings plain and simple so every officer is different. Most officers chose law because they want to help protect and serve the community in which they live, it is not fair to categorize them as donut eaters, that is like saying that all blondes are stupid when they are not.

I'm disappointed. I expected something more original from someone with the level of education you say you have. Donut references are such an outdated cliche. Is that really the best you can do? Maybe you could take a creative writing class.
I noticed your other questions disappeared. Is that because you were called out and made to look foolish? For the record, you're still a hypocrite in need of professional help.

never helped me, just cost me money for ridiculous tickets...But one day i may need them. Generally speaking i believe 1/2 are good the other half are crooked. I believe many steal drug money on busts...I mean, no one knows that they do it! How are you gonna prove it...and many seem to have more money than they are supposed to make. I guess what i do not like about cops is this common attitude and walk/look they have, i think it takes a certain person to be a cop....you have to have this unrealistic view that you are invicible and extra tough. I mean, would YOU risk being killed everyday by some looney on a routine traffic stop? Why would ANYONE do that....dont tell me its to "serve and protect" ....there aren't too many "Batmen" out there.....like the military...I think most are just big kids that feel better if they pretend to be "G.I. Joe"

How can you even ask such a question,Yes there are good and bad in all works of life,But you have to look at how many police were down at the WTC and how many helped other people. How many do wonderful things for the youth They just don't get the credit for doing good. It doesn't sell Newspapers, only the Bad things do. I think people are too quick, to condemn, Research and find there are plenty of good police left . Look at our schools and all the embezzlement going on Do we condemn everyone.

When I had to leave an abusive husband who didn't drink or do drugs (he was in the military before we got divorced) I went to the local police and told them what he has done and what he was planning to do, they never judged me, they were totally there for me and helped me in every possible way they could so my kids and myself were safe. But there was one time when I lived in another state with my husband he had a gun and put one bullet in it and I called the police and they never came out to the home and that was the first time I ever called the police in my life.. they never showed up to help me, my neighbors had to rescue me and my kids. So my thoughts are yes there are many nice police out there and there are some really bad ones too.

If you only had the slightest idea what we have to put up with sometimes, you wouldn't have the nerve to ask this question. When you lay down tonight to sleep, while your laying there all comfortable and only worrying about what you should wear to school tomorrow, I will be out there making sure some dirtbag who is addicted to some drug doesn't break into your house and steal all of your precious little things. Or some child molester doesn't come in and carry your butt off somewhere and do what he wants with you. Grow up! You want to see what police officers really do? Find the nerve to go to your police department and ask! I'm sure they will be glad to show you. Maybe they can show you the jail too. We don't get weekends off with our kids, nor do we get to tuck them in at night, and most of us don't even get to be with them at Christmas, birthdays, or other holidays. Why??!! Because we are out there dealing with people like you who are stupid, self-centered, and spoiled. Trust me, we would rather be at home.
Grow up. Start looking at someone else besides yourself.

After the hurricane last year, we had to return early because my husband is on an emergency response team. One of the police officers brought cookies and chocolate to my kids and even brought a 2 liter soda. He didn't have to (we had basic supplies) but he did, and I thank him for that little bit of compassion every day.

I can't think of a specific event where a police officer directly helped me but i'm sure they help indirectly all the time without my knowing. Obviously an officer has done something to hurt either you or your family and you're taking it out on all officers. don't let one bad apple spoil the bunch.
