I've been wearing contacts for over 10 years, every day for 12-14 hours a day. My corneas are fine!

Contact lens overwear can result in cornea complications. Not all corneas tolerate contact lens wear equally. Some wear low oxygen permeable lenses on an extended wear basis without complication. Others cannot tolerate even a high oxygen permeable lens on a short daily wear schedule. You should be fit by a professional and the fit should be evaluated to make sure your eye tolerates the lens and the wear schedule. You must also use common sense wearing the lenses. If your eyes don't look good or you don't see well with your lenses or if your eyes don't feel good, take your lenses out and find out why. Overwear can deprive the cornea of enough oxygen that the epithelial cells die and a metabolic abrasion is the result. This was much more common place in the days of non permeable rigid lenses. Contact lens overwear can also lead to a build of of metabolic wastes under the contact lens. This can result in painful sight threatening inflammation. I have never seen this occur from short term overwear. You and your eye care professional should decide on the correct type of lens and proper safe wear schedule for your lenses.

I haven't heard of this, but wearing them too long can affect your eyes ability to receive oxygen. All parts of our body need oxygen, including our eyes. If you don't change them often enough, then you can develop a condition (can't remember what it is called - maybe ask your eye doctor) ... the condition makes it so that you cannot wear contacts again EVER ... but only glasses. I know at least 2 people to whom this has happened.

No... However you should make sure to keep your eyes hydrated and make sure that they get enough oxygen... in other words, if you tend to have dry eyes, get eyedrops and give your eyes a rest every so often... take the contacts out and if you really need them, backup with glasses.

Doesn't matter if you wear soft or hard contacts, it doesn't eat out your cornea.

If you mean leaving it in too long, Yes if it is the old glass type. They can stop the oxygen flow to your eye.
