my sister says she has a high pain threshold but how do you know that the pain you think your dealing really well with just isnt that painful, and when you do eventually reach your limit of pain tolerence who are you to judge wether its high or not, noone else is feeling it.

Depends on the type of pain. I've given birth three times with no pain relief - I didn't need it.
I've also had an eye injury which was the most intolerable pain I could ever even imagine. I managed to nearly perforate my eyeball, and the layers of the cornea got snarled and didn't heal. The treatment (which I had to pay for!) was to strip the cornea again, with something like a wooden pointed stick, and I had to sit there and let it be done. My worst nightmare ever!
So I would've thought I had a really good pain threshold with the babies, but I got a rude awakening with the eye!

no way to tell unless you suffer really bad pain for a constant period (not acute)I
I'm thinking Labour or an on going illness...maybe having your arm stuck in a mince meater.....Normally the thought of being in pain "Ouch, I bet that hurts" is worse than the pain. Pain management is difficult, why do some woman take no pain killers during labour and others decide before they have a baby that they want everything and anything available!

Only you can really judge your own tolerance before actual pain I guess. If you want to find a pain threshold you need to do it with new pain. Find a type of pain you have never experienced and see how you handle it.

Self wax your bikini line. If you can do it without swearing for ten minutes straight then you have a damn high pain threshold!

I know I have a vety high tollerance to pain because I have a become pretty much desensatised to it. I can salt my wounds if I want to without flinching.

there is no pain like giving birth, but i would do that in a flash rather then have tooth ache or a migraine, so its just depends on the individual

stick ur hand in a fire, if it doesn't hurt, ur crazy. a 'pain-threshhold', is only one person's idea of how much pain they can take. i've learned that alot of things other people think would hurt really bad, just don't, ya know?!
