The doctor's receptionist told me to get some olive oil or "something like that" and use it for 10 days prior to having them syringed. Is there something I can buy from the chemists?

Can you use ordinary olive oil, the sort you cook with? I have some extra virgin olive oil in the cupboard, will this do?

Warm olive oil will do the trick or there are treatments available from pharmacies., but why does the wax have to be softened before syringing. I had mine done without any wax softening and it was as clear as a bell

Buy Cerumol ear drops from the chemist and use as directed on the packaging. they are best used at night and then put a little cotton wool in your ear to stop the liquid coming out. Place a towel on your pillow to stop any liquid spilling (there is no smell) Use for at least a week prior to getting your ears syringed and you should get good results.

warm olive oil. i work as a nurse in an ENT clinic in a hospital and the doctors usually advise patients to use warm olive oil to soften the wax before they can effectively remove them by microsuction.

Olive oil, trust me, I have a lifetime's history of horrible ear infections. Olive oil and a bit of cotton wool will see you right.

Buy some Earex from the chemist. This is the safest to use. Whoever is syringing your ears should have advised you what to use.

Try a little Hydrogen peroxide dilluted with a little water in the ear syringe first, wait. hear it sizzle, then wash away easily with clean , warm water. Presto! Clean and clear ears.
