She should live pretty normally, really.

There ARE a few things she (and you) should know. Because she only has one kidney it would be devastating if it was damaged severely.

She should avoid:
- contact sports
- high risk sports/activities eg. sky diving, mountain climbing

If she insists on taking part in activities where there is the possibility of impact (skateboarding, snow skiing) she should investigate the possibility of purchasing some form of kidney protector (fancy padding, really) she can wear under her clothes.

Other than that, she should do all the things a normal girl should :)

Absolutley nothing. Don't worry. Everyone only needs one kidney to function properly and healthily. She will have an absolutely normal life and never know that anything was ever missing from her. I hope this helps put you at ease. I can relate to this because my father has had a floating kidney since he was 2 years old. He was kicked by a horse and the kidney detached itself and isn't functional. It never has bothered him and he is now 63.

You only need one kidney. I had a friend whose son only had one kidney, and that kid is in his 20s now. Look at all of the living kidney donors out there today.
