If you wouldnt of extended your term you would of graduated already right? Lies have a way of coming out in the end. Not only that you might feel really messed up if you lied about a family member being sick and then they really got sick. I think that your best bet would be just to sit down with the director and point out that fact that you choose to extend your term or you would of already graduated. Point out that you have completed all the requirements for graduating and the extension you choose to do is only extra and not required and due to financial reasons and the need to look for work in another city or something. Also let them know that you enjoy the program and that it has helped you tremendously in life you wont be able to do the extension and wish to graduate now since you have completed all the requirements. All they can say is yes or no. If the money is that important to you then just stay and finish the program if they wont go for the above.

Dont you think they are going to want PROOF that your family member has this illness?? Say from a medical doctor??

Why do you want out so bad? Is it going to be that painful if you stay on for the extended term?

telling a lie is never the answer. Do you like it when someone lies to you? Are you willing to risk having the reputation of a liar? Your reputation should be very important to you. If you don't care what people think, and you don't want to be known as an honest person, then I suppose telling a lie would be the thing to do. Try telling them your parakeet had a miscarriage!

you know what, I hope I never met you or have to hire you. I really do. I knoew people like you came to this country to go to our schools and universities, but to take ADVANTAGE of our GOOD natures of letting you off the hook for family illness etc is SICKNING! I hope that whatever you tell the people REALLY happens, and I am so horribly ill I cant even begin to tell you. You are so dishonest that it is people like you who make others from your country a disgrace. You should be an example of those from your counrty, and represent it properly, not this way, you jackass....

Be careful with lies. Karma can come back and bite you in the butt with a vengeance (i.e. I'm a firm believer in the possibility of a family member actually contracting cancer if you lie for selfish purposes -- or some equally devastating consequence. No lie goes unpunished.) Good luck.

Tell them you are insane and a pathological liar. Tell them you sign agreements that you will do something and get paid for it, but you don't do it and still expect to get the money. Actually, it should be easy since you won't have to lie.

You should honour your comittments. You want to get paid for what you are unwilling to do. Great, be sure to write this down and put it on your business card.
