All addictions get 'old', they dont Always satisfy you. drugs, alcohol, overeating, Whatever. do you agree with the bible on this, cuz the Bible said it first. 'Have no other god's before me.' and addictions or whatever you put first that is 'sinful' according to the bible, will not keep you happy. what do you think about that?

Drugs, alcohol, overeating...does a list of addictions also include many hours spent on Yahoo Answers? "Have no other Gods before me" infers that what ever you do, you are doing with God in mind, and that you are looking for his will in all that you do, and anything that is put before god is sinful, not just things like drugs, alcohol, overeating, and other addictions. Yes, I would agree that if you do keep God at the top of your priority list, other things fall into place and you will be happier. However I would also allow for forgiveness of sins to hold it's place in the "happiness" department. We cannot possibly go through life always putting God first and not sinning. We are human. I'm thankful that God loves me enough to forgive me.

I actually don't know... if it's so addictive that you don't pray or whatever because of it, I don't think it's healthy. It's not only about religion or Allah, but about your personal health. I mean, are drugs and alcohol good for you? If you put it so high as to put it above god, then you really need to go to a rehab center. Overeating is bad for you, too. And think about it: is it really keeping you happy? Looking at it from a different point of view, praying to god = faith = feeling good = unity. It's not even about believing in god at this point, but the psychological effects of putting Allah above everyone else. And you don't have to pray or believe in Allah/God to feel good. Just be together with friends or family and get over addictions. And addictions are bad, bad, bad. I've never had ANY drugs and alcohol before and all my friends make fun of me A LOT for it. I'm 16; think about it. What has this world come to???

Good question Nikki and good point. You forget one thing though. All have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. But Jesus came as the gift of salvation for us so that we can be free from sin and the results (death and Hell) of sin. I agree with you though that we are to have no gods or idols before God. Some addictions though I don't think could be considered a sin per se just an addiction. Like my addiction to caffine and espresso. LOL. I just use them not like a drug but as a feel good or an upper to get me going for the day. And with a friend of mine owning and running a coffee shop I got it made so far.

Extremists combination custom and guy-made rules with Islam. for this reason i don't accept as true with scholars. Muslims look following scholars quite than doing their own study. whilst Qur’an and Hadiths have each and every of the understanding of Islam, why do Muslims persist with those guy-made rules with regards to Islam? And why is there lots oppression in direction of women human beings? Why is it majority of Islamic books consistently omit out the Muslim guy's dress code? Why do Muslims get rid of lives whilst they don't have the main appropriate? Why do Muslims stone people to dying only because of the fact of a important mistake? Didn’t Allah say that one and all sins are forgiven, whilst one repents essentially for it? Isn’t Allah All-Merciful? Doesn’t Allah have the astonishing authority to get rid of lives and create new lives in return? Why do Muslims kill in the call of Islam whilst Allah has strictly forbidden suicide? So those people who pick to stone human beings to dying and harass them repeatedly lower back have they never dedicated sins? I snicker at their heroism. Hypocrites!

No I cannot agree with that statement. As a recovering drug addict I think I have some pretty good perspective on this topic. Sadly for many their addictions do NOT get old. They also do not satisfy, that's why addictions alway escalate. However, I do not believe in the concept of "sin". Addictions are harmful yes. However, there are many things in my life now that do make me happy and content....without the babble or god. BTW the babble did not say anthing "first". It was not the first word spoken or written. You are grasping for straws with this and apparently have no real clue about the true nature of addiction.

It isn't just addictions though is it? Idolatry can be many things that are no gods. What I have learned is that material wealth is not the passage to fulfilment, but it sure is a cure for our material needs. Relationships and causes are the rest of the equation for me. Give and receive love, joy and support, fight for others to have the same.

I agree with you that putting God before addiction is a great idea. However, regarding your other comment, you should understand that "Allah" is simply the word for God in Arabic. "Allah" is what Christians who speak Arabic call God, just as El Dios is what Christians who speak Spanish call God. Unfortunately, this is a common misunderstanding, and often promoted by so-called Christian people who try to capitalize on differences to push their prejudices against Arabic people and Moslems.

Agree, If we tend to put all of these as priorities in our lives first then we committing a great sin-Idolatry. The washing of the word of God takes us away from these temptations and such.

I'm not really sure what you are asking....but I will try to answer what I THINK you are asking.
1. Addictions don't always get old. That's why you have people who weigh 500 pounds or die from overdoses or are alcoholics for 40 years.
2. God does get old. People get tired of never being able to live up to his expectations or those of the holier than thou followers they have to put up with. Not to mention it just gets boring.
People make themselves happy or unhappy. Try to live a good life, hurting as few people as possible, and you will be a lot happier than if you go through life trying to please a God that doesn't care if you live or die.
