Every so often, you hear on the news about a police officer being sent to prison for some crime or another. If a police officer, or a member of any branch of Law enforcement, get sent to prison, are they treated a LOT worse by inmates? Do the inmates regard them on the same level as they do child molestors and pedophiles? Or, would the gaurds, warden, and other members of the system try and keep that information quiet? I would imagine that any law enforcement agent being sent to prison, would probably regard that as the same thing as being given the death penalty.

If an officer from the police department or any other law agency is sent to jail, he's kept seperate from other inmates. If not, they'd chew him alive in a few seconds. Even if the officer never did anything to harm the, they would still think he's the one among many who made them go to jail and suffer, not rememebring what they did to the society, killing and hurting many inocent people. Though it looks a bit strange and unfair to keep him seperate from other inmates, but it's his legal right to be taken care of his life, making sure nobody hurts him for what he did as an Officer, which was his job and what he was paid for.

Regardless of what anyone here says police officers ARE NOT held in isolation(known as PC for protective custody) unless they specifically request it. The inmates work all throughout the prison and the guards talk as well so no, they don't hide the fact that they are cops from the general population of the prison. That is why 99.9% of them do ASK for PC.

P.S. And only in the last few yrs have they been seperating pedophiles from the general population as well

If a law enforcement officer is sentenced to prison, they are kept in solitary--away from all the other inmates because their lives would be in danger. They would have no contact with the prison general population.

For the safety of the officer, they aren't put into general population, they are placed under protective custody. Same with most child molesters. The 2 things prisoners hate the most are police officers and child molesters.

I beleive they are often separated from the general population of the prison. Typically pedophiles are as well. Neither of these groups is very popular with the general population of a prison.

I personally are not too fond of cops for they always have special treatment in society. I never understand why a cop killer is procecuted worse then a child killer or any other regular citizens. A cop in Jail should be treated just like any other criminals and no special favors from wardens or guard..He is lower then most prisoners for he supposed to be "protecting" the people..not doing shady activities...I for one have more respect for fire fighters..sorry, most cops are crooks...Not all, Most!! Usually they are at extreme risk of violence and retaliation. Because of this, they are put into "protective custody", or placed in the protective units away from the "general population".

I think the inmates beat them worse because they are cops.

You are correct and the way the climate is these days, they deserve it. Good cops are getting rare to find. Have a nice day.
