The eliptical trainer is really good because it can give you a great cardiac workout WITHOUT putting a lot of pressure on your joints like a treadmill can. Walking or running on a treadmill, while still good exercise, can pound on your knees, feet, and hip joints.......while the eliptical is great on decreasing the stress on these joints and still giving a great work out!!

You chose well on equipment! Enjoy and be healthy!

1. only if you use it consistantly.. Using it a few times a week then using it as a clothes hanger won't do diddly. use it 5 days a week, 30 minutes MIN, get your heart rate UP.
2. Only if you also watch your diet. You can do all the cardio you want but if you eat junk, it won't help you lose much weight.
3. You really can NOT spot reduce. You don't put fat on in a single area, it doesn't come off a single area. It takes TIME to do safely, and to make it last. Don't expect it to come off your hips first.. Plus men and women are geneticaly programmed to have fat on certain areas of the body and without extreme calorie counting and proper exercise (or plastic surgery) you just can not safely get the fat off those areas. (I stress SAFELY)...

I bought one a t Sam's Club that was inexpensive but nearly as well built as the excercise store ones. ($329 versus $899 and 90% as good).

I use it 5 days a week while I watch a 30 minute TV show. I haven't changed my diet and I don't do any other excercise. I have lost 30 pounds and 5 inches off my waist in 5 1/2 months.

Best for me is it doesn't strain my knees.

Absolutely. I am a person who hates to go to the gym. My personal trainer introduced me to the elliptical machine and I fell in love. If you watch you calorie intake as well, the inches will melt off with this machine. It will burn 3 times as manny calories as you would burn if you used a treadmill for the same amount of time.
