About twice a week I wake up out of a dead sleep with a horribly painful cramp in my right calf. It only happens in my right calf and a few weeks ago the pain lasted for 2 days and I was limping on it. Have you ever gotten these and is there anything I can do to stop them?

Drink LOTS of water, eat at least 1 banana a day and
take a good 'B' vitamin supplement. You should notice
a difference in a couple of days.
The pain you had is because of the cramping of the
muscle. It should stop with-in a day or two.
Hope this helps...

Just like the others have said. It's from dehydration and electrolyte imbalance

Drink more water +/or Gatorade
Drink Tonic water with Quinine in it (my Dad swears by it)
Take Leg Cramp meds - These do help. I've taken them

Eat bananas

When I get them I will gently rub the area cramping. And I will gradually stretch it out. If I can, I will drink water and take the leg cramp pill I mentioned while it's happening.

Drink water! Recurrent charlie horses are usually a sign of dehydration.

Also, make sure you stretch your calves after exercising or walking (that includes the walking done on a shopping trip).
