I know this is a very broad question.
But does anyone know the average cost of a dog day care?
And also, what do they do with the doggies? Do they just stick them in kennels most of the day and only take them out every now and then to use the bathroom, or do they actually have activities for them or train them or anything?
Thanks!

Good question and glad to see you care about your pet. It will depend on your location, facility, and what you demand. Cost is not a concern if you need to leave your pet at a kennel. I look for Day Care/Spas. They usually pamper your pet. However, look the facility over before you ever take your pet there. They should always ask for vacination papers, and pets ability to get along with other dogs. Ask if they seperate large dogs from smaller dogs when playing, do they play all day together, is there someone there 24 hrs a day and does someone always attend when the dogs are playing. What time are they walked before the kennel closes, and what time does the kennel open in the AM. Just how long is your dog left in a crate? An adult dog can go up to 10 hours and puppies less. Ask to be shown around the Day Care facility. They should be glad you want to see their facility in action. Watch the personnel at work and how they are treating the pets there. Most importantly, if you feel uncomfortable or don't like what you see (dirty surroundings, smells bad etc.) don't leave your pet. You could always go to a groomer, vets, and ask them about day care facilities in your area. I never leave my guys in a kennel that only uses crates. Do you have a friend or retired person close by that would come to your place and dog sit, play, feed, walk your pet in his own surrounding? Hope this helps?

The ones near me in Atlanta, the dogs are let out in size-appropriate areas all day. So small dogs have their own room, and big dogs have their own room, to avoid anyone getting hurt. There are webcams up so you can check that your dog is doing okay/they are treating the animals well.

The price varied from about $13-15 a day. If you bought days in bulk (like 6 months at a time), the price went down to about $10 a day.

The ones I saw had inside and outside areas the dogs were free to go wherever they wanted. Floors were concrete for easy clean up but they had soft beds so bonier and older animals could rest.

The ones near me didn't seem to have any organized activities but people do come out and pet/pay attention to the dogs.

There are no toys because the dogs have a potential to fight over them.

Whatever it is.. it is a rip off in a sense.. The average cost(depending on where you are) is around $20/day.. They just stick the dog in a kennel.. feed it there.. water it there and take it out twice a day to urinate and poo.. IF you want to pay extra(about $5) they will take the dog out and let it mingle with the other dogs in a special room.

Between $15-30 a day. The one local to me, has cameras ao you can watch your dog throughout the day. The ppl there play with them most of the day both inside and out. The seperate the dogs by which other dogs the get along with.

They usually have them out most the day to play. I wouldn't plan on any actual training taking place, the employees I have seen know little or nothing about dogs and how to handle them, much less train them.

I am sure there must be some good ones somewhere. The ones I know about are not places I would EVER leave my animals. Clueless employees/owners and stituations/policies that are dangerous to dogs and employees alike. Not MY dogs, EVER!

I have no idea about the cost, but I would suggest that you investigate any place THROUGHLY before leaving your pet. Your dog can not tell you if it is being well treated or not. And if you do leave your dog, watch him/her for signs of personality changes when he/she is back home.

Well, I really can't attest to all Doggie Daycares but here's the one my boy goes to once a week. He loves it! And it wears him out as well as keeps him social.
