This comes from the very popular 70's tv show Hawaii 5-0, it has become street code for Police officers ( Look out man here come 5-0)

The term comes from the tv series Hawaii Five-0 which ran from 1968 - 1980 starring The late Jack Lord as Steve Mc Garrat and James Macarthur as his trusty sidekick. The term Five - 0 was in honour of Hawaii becoming the fiftieth state of the U.S.A
