We own two rotties they are hardly close to being dangerous unless you consider a big ole teddy bear dangerous. However, I would much whether have to license mine then to get rid of them just because these owners dont know how to treat them with the respect they deserve so they become overly aggressive. I live in Kansas and there are some towns that are banning pit bulls however the ones that are already in the town have to be registered at the county clerks office. If given the choice i would license ours than to get rid of because they are huge part of our family. This is a much better idea than putting a ban on them.

I think any dog with a history of aggression or violence needs to be registered in some way, and there need to be restricitons placed on that dog when it is out of its home (ie a muzzle). I don't think all dogs of a certain breed should be labeled as dangerous though. There are many dogs of the so called dangerous breed that have never and would never hurt anyone...it all comes down to the owner and how the dog is treated/trained.

Not all rotties and pits are dangerous! Every one thinks they are but they aren't! Questions like this make me mad! If any dog is dangerous, not because of the breed but if it did something dangerous, it should be subjected to a dangerous animals license.

No, you can't generalize an entire breed. Bigotry is bigotry, it crosses species lines....

I do wish that they were regulated there are so many RESPONSIBLE pit/rott owners in the world, but the idiots who get these dogs and don't train them or train them to be aggressive are giving us a bad name. I dont think any joe off the street should be allowed to have one, they are the ones giving these dogs a bad rep

The top 10 reported dog breeds (keep in mind most small dog bites are often NOT reported) include chows, Shepherds, Akitas, Malamutes and huskies.... why are they NOT included in this breed segregation talk?

All dogs should be licensed. as for the "dangerous animal license"? no, if a dog has proven itself dangerous it should be put down immediately. this applies to any and all breeds.

all dogs should be licensed so that you can be sure they're up to date on their shots, in case you should be bitten by a dog you can know if its had its rabies shot or not. i think that dangerous DOGS, not "dangerous" breeds, should get dangerous animal licenses. actually for that matter i think dangerous owners should get licenses too.

More kids are killed every year by their parents than dogs. Should parents all be licensed?

Many places have DDL's in place already. It is stupid, the irresponsible owners and the thugs DON'T CARE, why would anyone think they will be trotting on in to comply??? It punishes the good owners and does nothing to stop the bad.

No, what would that do? The responsible dog owners who have theses breeds that you refer to, will have a dog license and prolly have no problems, but the irresponsible dog owners who neglect their dogs and fail to give them trainning are not going to license their dogs, therefore they wouldn't be paying that extra fee.

I dont really think that only those but all dogs need to be registered and licensed. This way all dogs have shots and healthy.

I don't think that they are really dangerous. It's just the way some owners train them that's why they are like that. My rot is really loving and very quite. He doesn't really bark that much and isn't destructive at all.
