RE:
How do I relieve neck pain?
I have had neck pain for over one week now. It started as a stiff neck and now is just a constant pain when I turn my head. It hurts even when I don't turn my head. What makes it worse is using the computer and using the phone. Unfortunately, my job requires I use both. Ibuprofen and rubs...

Hey i suggest you visit your doctor immediately as this has been prevalent for the past week.
Try a light massage and then some very delicate neck excercises like rotating it clockwise and anti-clockwise. You can also try accupressure. Change you pillow and use a flat one that should be just about the height from your head to shoulder when you lie down. A combination of rest, medication and physical therapy will relieve neck pain.

I used to get such neck pains once in a while, but then more frequently. It happens because of muscle weakness. You must correct your posture and immediately start exercises to strengthen your shoulder & neck muscles. Consult with a doctor before you start.
Heat will help relax the tense muscles. Use a hot towel. It will take a few days for this episode to subside. Take tylenol or motrin for the pain. I wish I had started exercising years ago.

I suffer from neck pain, and my yoga teacher told me this. Jut your lower jaw out like you were opening and closing a drawer, do this out and in about 15 or 20 times a day, this should help.

Read up on sciatica (the sciatic nerve). Here is just one of the many websites that deal with this area of the body. Lots of ideas to troubleshoot & define the area that hurts the most in order to narrow down the "problem area"! Good Luck. http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/backpain/sciatica.htm
