I know he is doing good for his age and he gets lots of praise just for sitting there(on potty) and for waking up dry

He is doing a great job! I know it's a little frustrating especially if you have him in big boy underwear and have a mess to clean up, but be patient, he is still learning and it sounds like he is well on his way to being potty trained! To help curb this just make him sit on the potty every hour or hour and a half and give him lots of praise and encouragement when he makes it to the potty. He is still figuring out that "funny feeling" that means he's gotta go...he'll master it soon, don't worry. One book that he might enjoy and help him is Time to Pee by Mo Willems...it is a really fun book and my son still likes to read it and he has been potty trained for almost two years now!

He is just learning what those feelings are. He hasnt completely mastered the sphyncter (sp?) muscles yet. Im glad to hear that he is at least trying. Keep him in pull ups, and ask often if he has to go potty, and hopefully you can reduce the peeing in the pants.

if he doesnt want to go, then ask him to try to go potty. You can give rewards afterwards if he does good.

Don't wait for him to TELL you he has to go; you should get into a routine of sitting him on the potty every hour (or even half hour), regular as clockwork, until he starts to better understand the sensations of his body and he gets better at knowing when he is going to need to use the potty.

You are just in the middle of potty training. There are stages of potty training. First they have to realize they went, then they realize they are going, soon he'll realize that he's about to go. Just give him some time, and be patient. Some kids train faster than others. He's not doing it to tick you off, so just be patient, it'll come.

Some parents leave their child in the wet clothes after they do this so they will learn the consequence of not going in time. I've heard it works. Just make sure you don't leave them too long, just until he starts to complain and make sure he gets good and dry afterwards so he doesn't get a rash. I didn't have that problem with my daughter and my son's not quite old enough for that yet, so I don't know for sure if it works. good luck.

I saw there are pull ups now that you can buy that give a cooling sensation right before the child goes or starts becomming wet. I thought it was a great idea...especially to help them learn about urges and controlling them. Good Luck, and yes he is doing great for his age!

I think you should at least give him some credit for trying! It will take time, and I haven't gone through it yet, but it sounds like he's had a decent start. At least he's not refusing to go or anything, just has to get used to knowing when. Maybe instead of asking him, you should just take him in to go and let him sit for a minute.

Why did you attack me at my last question? I never said anyone should not have kids. What are you talking about? And what's your problem?

By the way...your kid is only 2. Maybe his bladder isn't developed enough to be potty trained yet.

What I did with my little boy is even when he says he does not have to go I tell him to go anyway and most of the time he says he does not have to go but when I make him go he uses it. So make him go to the potty even when he says he does'nt.
