I am not sure how many Ministers get on here, i am one, but i am not sure if i am alone. But what do you think the major reason is behind the problems in the church today? I know our church just seems to have certain antagonists that seem to want the church divided at all costs. What causes this? I need others opinions on this subject.

There are two types of people who attend church,

Those who want their ears tickled.

2 Tim 4:3 For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories.

and those who want the truth.

Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, 25 not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as YOU behold the day drawing near.

Even Paul had this problem.

1 Cor 1:10 Now I exhort YOU, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that YOU should all speak in agreement, and that there should not be divisions among YOU, but that YOU may be fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought.

As a minister are you going to tickle or preach the truth.

You can't do both, and you can't make everyone happy.

I am a minister.
Assuming that you are in the USA. The christians haven't had any persecution for a long time and they have had a great abundance of financial blessings.. It has been too easy to be a Christian and now it shows. Very little public evangleism, witnessing, tracting and the church is like a very overweight and content army.
We also have a great falling away from the Word of God.
If you are a minister, then stand up and be counted and don't compromise on the word of God. Get your people praying and living a truly Godly life and things will start to happen. Remember you will also be persecuted and called an extremist ect.

The JW's are on the street, the black muslims are out there, the mormons and the christians, very few..

Sin causes this. Look at the examples of the churches in the new testament.

Ecclesiastes 1:9
That which hath been is that which shall be; and that which hath been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

I'm reminded of the old story about a man living across the street from a Church. He hated the fact that the church was there. So one day he bought a devil costume and ran into the church wearing it and yelling at the top of his lungs.

Everyone in the church ran out except for little sister so and so who had been a member of the church almost all her life. When the man walked up to her and said "Aren't you afraid of me?" She replied "Why no master, I have been working for you from the inside for years."

I am not a minister, but other consider me one, though am not a pastor, they looks at me as a pastor. I am in the teaching ministry. In other words I am a teacher in the church.

When I pray I did not ask God to bless me but to bless those people whom I am in touch with, so I became a blessing to everyone I have talk to. I asked for wisdom and understanding on the words so that I could explain to them what the 1st century apostle is trying to say, and to show me my sins so that I could repent on it.

God shows me a lot of problem in the church, that is:

1. Unity in Diversity - United in worship, divided on belief
2. Denominational myths
3. Doctrinal issues
4. Binding the old testament in the new testament
5. Tithing
6. Self righteousness
7. God Reveal his word only to the pastors.

These are but some of the many problem that the 20th century church is facing today. There are many secular teachers rather than biblical teachers.

The reason behind the problem 'NOBODY WORSHIP GOD IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH" this is the greatest problem.

Weak leadership. Christian ministers haven't been holding eachother accountable for their beliefs, and haven't made any real attempt to stamp out true evil within the Church. All sorts of things are just brushed under the carpet. Christian girls are just as likely to get pregnant outside of wedlock as non-Christian girls, Christian mariages are failing just as fast as non-Christian, and the ministers in charge of these people don't do anything to them. Membership in the Church has become free and easy, and no one fears excommunication...

except those who are brave enough to say something is wrong. Those the minister has no problem pushing out into the street.

Many people interpret the bible differently. The problem only adds up when you change the language. Sometimes it changes the meaning. I think if we would read the scriptures in their original language, and earliest versions. Then there would'nt be no mess. Try reading different versions of the bilbe and see if there's anything confusing when contrasting. Of course many will say how inconvinient tto learn the original version but If you do it though you will see a world of difference

I am not a Minister, but have studied a lot of theology.

I think the problems within the Protestant faith is directly related to the Split by Luther.

The Catholic Church has not been perfect, but I think the faith is what Jesus set up for us and we should follow that.

There is to much unfounded hatred of the Catholic Church in my opinion, no group is going to be perfect, we are all Human.

I used to be a Protestant, and have a ton of Protestant friends, I know there are many holy Protestant people also!

Peace, and God Bless you!

I'm not a minister- but I think some people seek to break down that which they do not understand. Rather than question themselves and see what is lacking in themselves, they try to find fault with others/organized religion.

Sadly, any time you get a group of people together, it is inevitable that you will have some power struggles. But when the group gets large enough that you have leaders and followers, things get even worse. The three leaders who are bickering end up having groups of people backing them and you end up with a small uncivil war on your hands.

Because they've staked their reputations on promising victory, overtly or unintentionally, the leaders can rarely bring themselves to step back and look at the fact they're not living life with love and understanding -- they're blinded by the need to maintain their reputation.

I left the ministry several years ago, but remember the problem well. 1 Cor 3:3 puts it all in one place: For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Envy and carnality are at the base of all division. I have never seen it otherwise. Whoever's the focus of the strife is envious and or carnal. Look for greed, lust for authority, sexual unchastity as the roots.
