You don't have to obey the police, you have to obey the laws set by the government may it be Federal, state or local. The police enforce laws so the term law enforcement officers.
Police-to prevent or detect and prosecute violations of rules and regulations.

The police do not make the rules or regulations.

Can I say "DUH"?!?!! The police enforce laws that are made for the protection of EVERYONE. It's their job to stop people who break the law and either give them a citation (ticket) or take them to jail. Contrary to what the Liberals would have you believe, it's not your God-given right to do whatever the heck you want with no regard to your fellow human beings. Police officers help keep us safe, and they do so at great risk to themselves. As such, they deserve to be treated with respect. To disrespect a police officer is to disrespect the law, the people who made the law, your fellow citizens, and everything that makes the U.S. the greatest nation in the world. If you think police officers in the U.S. have too much authority, then go break the law in another country and see how quickly your freedom (or even your life) is taken away from you.

Just google the phrase "Rodney King", and you'll see EXACTLY why it's important to "abey" the police.

Abey? You want anarchy, when everyone does what they want without fear. The police uphold the law that is made by parliament.

ABEY? I guess you mean OBEY?

We don't have to obey them but we do have to obey the law. The police uphold the law - therefore if you break the law (thus disobeying the law) you are likely to get arrested!

SIMPLE really isn't it!

Why don't you ask a police officer, and once he's nicked you maybe you can reflect on this question when they are taking a statement from you!
A word of advice, make sure you can spell the word 'obey' correctly first though!

We dont have to obey the police. If everyone was a law abiding citizen, then the police wouldn't have to tell people what to do. They only tell us to do things when we break the law.
If you don't wanna obey a poice officer, then you will normally find yourself in a prison cell.
